VACATIONS WITH A VILLAGE FEEL
Due to the great development
and growth that Tulum has experienced in recent years it
is recognized as a town, although the notable calm in
its streets mean that a long walk in the main street
still has the charm and feel of a village. Here
commercial and social life have their place. You will
find everything from small and exclusive shops to
supermarkets, restaurants, bars, bakeries, typical
Mexican craftwork shops and services such as public
telephones, a post office, banks and tourist
information. If you take the time to look you can find
very original and tasteful things; not only clothes and
accessories, but also places to stay and types of food.
For eating we recommend you make a stop at:
Don Diego de la Selva.
Here you can enjoy a romantic dinner in the garden
or by the pool and enjoy French specialties such as
escargots (snails) and bouillabaisse soup. It also
offers exquisite local dishes such as chaya crepes.
You have to try them! You can also find this
restaurant on the beach.
El Pequeño Buenos Aires is an excellent
option for those who wish to taste unbeatable meat
cuts grilled in the classic Argentinean style. It
also has vegetarian dishes and a small wine cellar
that allows you to taste the wines at the ideal
temperature.
In Teetotum, don?t miss the simple but
delicious French toast and different flavours of
smoothies, prepared with fresh, seasonal fruit.
Don't leave Tulum without trying the delicious
tacos at Urge Taquito. Its specialties are
shrimp and fish tacos prepared with a Tempura style
covering. It has an ample salad bar and a selection
of salsas: tamarind, mango and pico de gallo with
habanero chile, among others.
In the town you can rent
bicycles by the hour or by day; this is a
magnificent way to tour and get to know the nearby
corners, as well as moving between the town and
beach. The distance between both is approximately 15
minutes by bicycle, but hitching a lift and taking a
taxi are also excellent options.
